Commissions

Throughout the years, several friends and family have asked me to do projects for them or their family members. Most of the time I don't get a payment per se, but they have always been good practice and fun to make.

Amy and Gabe

This was an image I did of my cousin and her husband during the wedding of her brother. The lovely couple looked very happy this way and I needed to work on my shading, and I figured this was a great project.

The Jewelry Box

This was a jewelry box that I made for a close friend's mother for her 50th wedding anniversary. The image on the top was taken on their honeymoon. I made this box from scratch with some poplar, maple, oak, and various pieces of trim. It took about 3 weeks to complete, and includes a lock, a tray in the top part, two drawers, and forest green velvet lining. As far as I know she still uses it.

Patrick and Mason

I did this project a number of years ago for an old friend's sister of her son and his uncle. It was one of my first attempts at photorealism.

It is about 8 inches by 11 inches, burned onto an eighth inch sheet of maple.

Buddha

This was a project that I did for a lovely woman who specializes in dancing and who now owns her own dance troupe called Noumenon Dance Ensemble. She had chosen the image of the Buddha and had requested a burning to go with it.

I had a piece of Australian silkwood that I used for it - literally a chunk of a tree. I flattened one end of it so that it could stand up on its own. The two knots in the tree were actual knots in the silkwood that I incorporated into the tree. This tree was one of my all time favorite trees that I have ever burned; I didn't draw anything out first, just went for it and it turned out so well!

Baby's Room

This was a mural that I did for a friend and her husband back in the mid 2000s for their new baby. Her in-laws were coming to visit and having the room all set up with this mural was how she wanted to let them know that she was pregnant with thier first grandchild! I was honored to be a part of it. The other side of the room had an underwater sandbar with all sorts of animals. Unfortunately there was a lot of furniture obscuring it when I went to take photos! I gained a rabbit from this adventure that ended up being the light of my life for the subsequent 10 years, so I certainly gained a lot for this one!

Bruins

I made this watch box for a Bruins fan who collected watches when Boston won the Stanley Cup in 2011. It's made of oak and poplar with a push latch, a tray, and black velvet lining.

The Wedding

When my cousin got married, I really wanted to do something special for them, so I made this as a wedding gift.
