During both world wars, women played a significant role at home and overseas. I have been collecting old photos of women working in the wars from all over the world. Although a mostly silent participant, women's work had a major impact on the success of the world wars, but is left out of the history books for the most part. I hope to bring a voice to those women that made such a difference in this world back then, and today. I have only finished a couple of them so far mostly because they take a long time to burn, but there are many to come in this series.
I couldn't resist burning this image. The woman's face had the perfect look. I wish I knew what the machine was that she was working on, but I assume that it is some sort of drill press that hollows out the canisters.
This was the first of this series. The motorcycle was intricate and interesting to burn. The original image was a bit unclear in this part so I had to learn some history about motorcycles to make it happen. A very good friend of mine claimed this one as soon as he saw it.
